At Nashie, we take sun protection seriously. All of our garments are independently tested to meet AS 4399:2020, the Australian standard for sun protective clothing.
What UPF50+ means
To earn a UPF50+ rating, the fabric must block at least 98% of UVA and UVB radiation, allowing less than 2% of harmful rays to pass through. All Nashie fabrics consistently meet this level of protection.
How our testing works
Each production batch of fabric is sent to an accredited independent laboratory for testing before it reaches our warehouse:
- Fabric samples are exposed to controlled ultraviolet light.
- The lab measures how much radiation passes through the material across both UVA and UVB wavelengths.
- Multiple tests are conducted at different angles and repetitions to ensure consistent protection with no weak spots.
- Results are averaged, and the batch must meet strict criteria for transmittance and standard deviation to qualify for UPF50+.
Each shipment comes with a certified lab report, so we can verify that your Nashie garments offer reliable sun protection straight from the warehouse.
Caring for your UPF50+ Nashie
- Wash according to the instructions on the care label.
- Avoid high heat or harsh chemicals.
- Store in a cool, dry place when not in use.
Coverage and guarantee
The UPF rating applies only to the area of skin covered. Maximum skin coverage helps to prevent skin damage. The UPF rating does not consider the design of this item in relation to recommended body coverage. Protection may be reduced if the material is wet, stretched or from the effects of normal wear or exposure to chemicals. For best sun protection, use hats, clothing that provides maximum skin coverage, sunglasses, sunscreen and shade.
